But is she ready?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>NextSpace is headed out en masse to GCUC this week \u2013 the Global Coworking Unconference. \u00a0(Oh you want a link? \u00a0<a href=\"..\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.austingcuclegacysite.wpengine.comm\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>My husband is getting the carry-on out of the basement for me tomorrow, and the kids have been prepped on when mama\u2019s getting back. \u00a0 And so has my community, my other family that I mother in bits and pieces as appropriate. \u00a0I\u2019ve got an orange shirt ready to be packed, and I\u2019ve checked out the agenda and made some mental notes about where I want to eat. \u00a0(Austin has my heart \u00a0&#8211; and my stomach\u2026.)<\/p>\n<p>But: \u00a0I still need to get un-ready.<\/p>\n<p>I co-sleep, and I send my kids to a co-op preschool, and dammit, I get the whole \u2018in community\u2019 aspect of things. \u00a0I\u2019m an Aquarius and we\u2019re kind of militant about that sort of thing. \u00a0But I feel ready for this, and frankly \u2013 I need to get un-ready.<\/p>\n<p>So \u2013 I\u2019m dropping expectations. \u00a0And goals for the unconference, well \u2013 they\u2019re still there, although I\u2019ve filed them under \u2018abstract notions\u2019 so that I can be exhilarated and liberated by whatever happens and whatever interactions that I have. \u00a0 They\u2019ll still get met, but not in a linear, check this off the list way. \u00a0 And contacts \u2013 I\u2019ve deconstructed my imaginary guest list so that I am ready to meet whoever walks in the door. \u00a0If you catch me chatting up the janitor, don\u2019t stop me \u2013 maybe I\u2019m getting some facilities tips.<\/p>\n<p>Okay Austin. \u00a0I\u2019ve got some more clearing out to do, but I think I\u2019m un-ready enough for GCUC. \u00a0My one expectation \u2013 and I\u2019m holding onto it \u2013 is that it\u2019ll be a great time. \u00a0If you see me there, say hello.<\/p>\n<p>Originally Posted in <a title=\"View all posts in Gretchen's Blog\" href=\"http:\/\/nextspace.us\/blog\/category\/blogroll\/gretchens-blog\/\" rel=\"category tag\">Gretchen&#8217;s Blog<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gretchen of NextSpace and she is headed to Austin, TX for GCUC.
