Which airport should I fly in to?

Congonhas is much closer. Guarulhos relies at the metropolitan area. Depending on where you are coming from and what airline you fly, Guarulhos might be a cheaper option just a longer commute. Either is fine.

If you are arriving through International Airport of São Paulo (Guarulhos), we recommend you use the Airport Bus Service (ABS). Taxi can be expensive due the airport is 23 km from downtown. Ticket booths of ABS are at arrival floor of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and the ticket price is around US$ 10 (depending on the currency exchange). You need to check which line suits better for you. Show your hotel address and the bus operator you help you with the best choice.

If you are arriving through Regional Airport of São Paulo (Congonhas), cab service works fine, due its location.

Where in São Paulo is the South American coworking conference?

GCUC South America will take place at the world class architecture college of São Paulo University, FAU/USP. It is located at Rua do Lago, 876 - Butantã.

What is São Paulo like?*

São Paulo is the most populous city in Brazil, in the Americas, in the western hemisphere and the world's twelfth largest city by population. It exerts strong regional influence in commerce, finance, arts and entertainment and a strong international influence. The name of the city honors Saint Paul of Tarsus.

Having the largest economy by GDP in Latin America and Southern Hemisphere, the city is home to the São Paulo Stock Exchange and  Paulista Avenue is the economic core of São Paulo. The metropolis is also home to several of the tallest buildings in Brazil, including the building Mirante do Vale, Edifício Itália, Banespa, North Tower and many others.

São Paulo is a cosmopolitan, melting pot city, home to the largest Italian, Arab and Japanese diasporas, with examples including ethnic neighborhoods of Bixiga, Mercado and Liberdade respectively.

The city has significant cultural, economic and political influence both nationally and internationally. It is home to several important monuments, parks and museums such as the Latin American Memorial, the Ibirapuera Park, Museum of Ipiranga, São Paulo Museum of Art, Pinacoteca (State Art Gallery), Museum of Soccer and the Museum of the Portuguese Language. The city holds high profile events, like the São Paulo Art Biennial, the Brazilian Grand Prix, São Paulo Fashion Week and the ATP Brazil Open.

Do I need a VISA

You need to be aware about brazilian VISA requirements to some countries. You can check whether you are exempted or not here: http://www.consbrasil.org/pdf/QuadroRegimeVistos.pdf

For instance, VISA is necessary for americans, canadians and japaneses.
The attendees from these countries must go to a brazilian consulate to ask for it.

For instance, if you are american, check the consulate you should attend for the VISA (depending on your jurisdiction) and necessary documents:

http://washington.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/brazilian_consulates_in_the_us.xml

If you are canadian, check the consulate, depending where you live:

http://montreal.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/
http://vancouver.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/
http://toronto.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/

Be careful about the time necessary for obtaining the VISA. For instance, for americans:
