Hi there, I’m Edward!
The story of how I came into the crazy (and amazing) world of coworking came out of necessity. I have been an entrepreneur all my life and was comfortable with working from home, it’s how I’ve always worked. With a roommate who left his agency job to set out on his own, I found myself sharing a space with someone 24 hours a day – something had to give. It was only when he set out to look for a place to work outside of home that I was introduced to these community driven spaces that we all lovingly refer to as coworking.
After going through the touring process of the few local spaces in the neighbourhood and not quite finding a place I could call my work home away from home, my famous last words were, “How hard could this be?” – this is how my roommate became my co-founder at Verkspace.
After three and a half years of operation, I can say it’s been an experience beyond anything I could have imagined. The ups, the downs and everything in between. Little did we know that building community would be one of the more challenging things you can set out to do, but we quickly learned that community cannot be forced and needs to come together naturally; it’s every bit a living and organic thing as the people who are a part of it. All challenges aside, I can confidently say that it’s been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done in my life.
It has been through this journey that I’ve realized just how important human interactions, connections and community are for myself and every person that walks through our doors each day.
I’m happy to share my experiences and knowledge with those who are seeking to accomplish the same so don’t be shy and come up to me and say “hi!”.
