by Mike McKeown, The Best WorkplaceLast week I participated in the 2015 Global Coworking Unconference Conference (GCUC) in Berkeley, CA. While I don’t personally operate a coworking space, I approached the conference from the POV of a design and workplace strategist. The coworking community has always had an appeal to me, a certain buzz I continue to try to pinpoint, both personally and professionally. Happy to say, GCUC delivered.
A common thread throughout the conference was the notion that “we’re not competitors, we’re collaborators.” While coworking has built an authentic and enviable community, and there was plenty of fun to be had, GCUC proved to be so much more. Coworking is serious business, demonstrated by a great lineup of events. The conference was three days jammed packed with “everything coworking”. From Day One’s Camp GCUC delivering a crash course in coworking, to several panels of experts and unconference sessions, capped off with coworking tours in Berkeley and San Francisco, people walked away loaded with new knowledge, skills, and their heads generally spinning with motivation to harness the power of the greater global community…
