Here at GCUC, we’re all about trying new things and being a trailblazer in this loaded industry. Let’s listen to this podcast episode that dives into Tobi Skovron’s transition and we can take away from his jam-packed career.
After many years as CEO of CreativeCubes.Co, Tobi Skovron has transitioned to Executive Director of AccelerateX. With locations in major cities around Australia, CreativeCubes.co offers a range of flexible workspace options, as well as access to a community of like-minded individuals and a range of amenities and services. At CreativeCubes.Co, Tobi was mainly responsible for setting the mission, as well as ensuring the brand and member experience are aligned with our values and goals.
When you look into Tobi, you may think he runs a million businesses. As he put it, it is multiple businesses that all track to one thing. The flex office is the business, presented in 3 different ways, workspace, clubhouse and CreativeCubes.Co. The workspace brand is the downtown operation, usually in any high rise or corporate environment. CreativeCubes is a city-fringe product, usually in the suburbs of a city. Though relatively new, clubhouse is seen as a business lounge and for people who want to be around a business community without being in an office.
“We just launched our 11th building,” Tobi said. “It’s amazing how all these things lived in my head for so long and it can be so liberating when people walk through our spaces and see it.”
After much nurturing and preparation, the parent company of CreativeCubes.Co, WorkSpace, Clubhouse, MicDrop, and Timber+Greens was launched. AcceleratedX is a cutting-edge accelerator program designed to propel startups to the next level of success. With a focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and community-building, AccelerateX provides a unique blend of mentorship, networking, and resources to help startups overcome the challenges of growth and scale.
Liz and Tobi also touched on many recent trends in both the hospitality industry and in general every-day life. Exploring topics such as the impact of technology on experiences, the rise of alternative accommodations and the importance of sustainability, it’s obvious how much personalization goes into each and every brand Tobi is a part of.
“We’re always thinking about the environment and our footprint,” Tobi said. “I think a lot about making the world a better place.”
Like a true Aussie, Tobi compared his business to the ocean waves of his favorite beach. The possibilities of being too far in front of the market, working to catch up to it, or even being right on point.
“We’re intimate with our customers and the market,” Tobi said. “We really understand and have clarity around what we’re trying to achieve in terms of a vision.”
Moving the dial on the loneliness epidemic, Tobi has proliferated the industry in Australia. With his wealth of experience and expertise, Tobi provided valuable insights and advice for entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses looking to thrive in the hospitality industry.
