A few weeks ago, we here at GCUC UK supported an event at Huckletree West in London on diversity, inclusion and accessibility in coworking spaces.

While there, we captured coworking insiders sharing their thoughts on coworking and community.

Coworking has been around for a while now, but in the last five years, it has exploded.

But what makes a successful coworking space?

The core feeling is that there is a difference between a workspace and coworking space.

That will sound like semantics to some, but there’s a strong feeling that people need more than just an office and a chair to do their best work.

Collaboration, community, openness, sustainability and accessibility are the coworking values that early champions of the coworking movement decided on together.

As our industry grows and moves in different directions, it seems that these values are still true for people, whether they know about them as a “coworking value” or not.

Furthermore, this sense of community and collaboration works in an independant, uber cool space in Hackney or more prominent business space in the city.
