Community of Cultivators

Here at GCUC we are immensely fortunate to cross paths and work with so many amazing people. Through our work, we’ve cultivated a global community of people we think you should know about.

Community of Cultivators is a new blog series to introduce you to coworking game changers and connectors. Each month, we’ll release new interviews that we hope inform and inspire you.

This go around we interviewed Angel Kwiatkowski of Cohere. Not only is angel an industry pillar, she is an author, mom and general badass. We think you will agree.

Angel Kwiatowski

Name: Angel Kwiatkowski
Company and title: Cohere, Founder

What in your life are you most proud of cultivating or creating? Why?

Personally, I’m most proud of my daughters. It’s hard work creating great human beings. I also think my marriage is spectacular and that takes effort. Professionally, I’ll always be the proudest of creating my coworking space Cohere. It has fulfilled me in more ways that I could have imagined and people tell me that it’s saved their lives so that feels powerful.

What podcast would you recommend to others and why?

Dax Shepard of Armchair Expert interviews Johann Hari about the loneliness and addiction epidemic at https://armchairexpertpod.com/pods/johann-hari. I was basically screaming “YES!” the entire time I listened to it. Coworking is “Rat Park” for people at work. That is all you need to know.

If you had $500 to spend- what would you buy?

I would save it because I’m stingy AF.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of becoming an entrepreneur?

Self awareness is a real bitch but completely necessary if you want to succeed. Every mistake, lesson, mis-step or hardship over your entire life will be thrown back at you in some form if you start your own business. You can either find the root of your behavior and fix that shit or react and get defensive. I highly recommend owning your shortcomings, getting therapy and finding a way to be honest about them so you aren’t working your shit out on other people.

If you had to put a quote on your gravestone what would it be?

“I disagree.”

There you have it. Check back next month for two more interviews with pillars in the coworking community.
