Being the new kid on the block did not stop the team at Working From_ The Hoxton and their Regional Head of Sales, Lucy Pugh, from finding their place in the industry. Lucy talks about the importance of authenticity in hospitality, keeping your mind in a good place for business, the DNA of coworking, what makes the industry great, where Working From_ might be going, market standards, and more in this episode of the GCUC Podcast.

Go above and beyond for your members with these juicy sound bites:

We opened in February 2020 and had a busy launch week. The ramp up for presale was super busy despite us being the new kid on the block with nothing else to show who we were. Swiftly followed by March 2020 and we know what that brought. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

After a series of lock downs, we closed, we opened, a few times. Because were we a real estate business or a hospitality business? Over time it became clear that coworking kinda sat in this no man’s land which meant we could actually reopen. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

I’ve always thought that hospitalities and hotels specifically is where a lot of growth is going to come from. You guys already know hospitality and that’s such a key part of coworking. -Liz Elam, Founder at GCUC

People really appreciate that authenticity. It’s quite clear and obvious whether it is forced or natural and because of the hospitality piece embedded in us from the hotel. It’s not surprising that people can actually feel it with us naturally. That leads to longevity with our members and a better experience overall. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

I have a lot of friends at different coworking brands. That’s one of my favorite parts of this industry. We are all open and collaborative and that’s not often seen in other industries. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

The things that we are able to offer, not just hospitality and the level of service but the deadline day is an example. If a member is working late, they can call down to the host team and if there is a room in the hotel available, its theirs for 45 of the local currency. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

For me, the massive attraction was and still is the flexibility. Our model was always intended to be flexible. Private offices only have to commit for two months and then fix offices, studios, and hot desks are just one month.

A lot of companies have pivoted and adapted, quite rightly, since covid but it is something that was already in our DNA at the beginning. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

Hospitality. When its engrained in everything that you do, people believe that it’s authentic and they appreciate it. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

It’s clearing a booming market. In London, demand heavily outweighs supply, and the key neighborhoods are all thriving. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

It’s about understanding what the market standard is, what people are expecting, making sure that you’re adhering to that. But always hope to go above and beyond. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

It’s nice for companies to have a sense of ownership while still being part of a community. I always got the sense that companies would eventually outgrow us, being only one site. But they’ve found ways to adapt. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

Service first is an important thing. The experience as a whole. From walking through the door and being greeted politely to having an awesome time at a great event and the people you meet there. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

Community and hospitality are thrown around a lot. Being authentic with those things so if you’re going to do them, do them properly and do them well. Otherwise, don’t choose to identify with them. -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton

One of many things that we do well is the hospitality piece. Making sure if somebody needs something last minute, how can we help them to the best of our ability? -Lucy Pugh, Regional Head of Sales at Working From_ The Hoxton
