International Coworking Day

Happy International Coworking Day, Friends!

Today is the day to celebrate the fact that we are all part of something far greater than ourselves. Locally and globally, we are a community of forward thinkers, innovators and game changers paving the way for the future of work. This is big-time stuff, if you really think about it.

We, the coworking peeps of the world, are fundamentally shifting the way all workspaces are seen and structured. That is freaking epic. While we are collaborating, conspiring and disrupting the CRE and design markets, we are building a platform for change. We teamed up with Emergent Research to do a little research on our industry, Here’s what we found:

  • There are more than 14,000 coworking spaces in the world
  • There are over 1 million coworking members in said spaces
  • Independently owned and operated spaces make up about 93% of the spaces in the world
  • 89% of people using coworking spaces reported being happier as a product of working from a shared space
  • 84% are more engaged and motivated
  • 73% of the people polled maintain their sanity through coworking
  • 83% those polled reported being less lonely

Not only is coworking uniting and connecting people who would normally work in the isolation of their own homes, giving people a place to seek asylum from the distractions of home, and building diverse networks, coworking is making people happier and healthier. Coworking is changing lives.

This year at GCUC we shifted our focus to building the future of work the right way…. with health and wellness at the forefront. With our global community of over 7,000 coworking owners and operators, we have honed-in on mental health and the quality of workspace environments.

We, as a community, can dismantle the loneliness epidemic and destigmatize mental illness, HUMAN TO HUMAN, one community at a time. We do this through connection. You know where you find connection? Say it with us, coworking spaces.

If you have ever broken bread with, hugged, cried, or smiled at someone in your community, you have made a difference in someone’s life, whether you realize it or not. They may not remember what you said in the moment but they will remember how you made them feel. Happy International Coworking Day friends! Keep kicking ass and changing people’s lives—you are rock stars.
